BEETLE ELEPHANT, VULNERABLE "PET".

The Elephant Beetle Elephant Megasoma mars.
The "beetle elephant" Megasoma mars is a representative species of the amazonia of Colombia, of which little is known about its biology, behavior and habits. Due to its great size and showiness, this neotropical species is very appreciated in European and Asian countries coming to be respected like a true one "pet"; sadly this fact has become an element of illegal traffic.
HUMMINGBIRDS, LITTLE ENDANGERED BIRDS.

Sapphire-bellied Hummingbird Lepidopyga lilliae.
First photographic registration of the Sapphire-bellied Hummingbird Lepidopyga lilliae in detail!
During February and April of 2007 were captured the first two males individuals of more than 100 hummingbirds captured in the project. At present the sequencing of the sister species is being carryed out and promptly the first genetic sequence of the Sapphire-bellied Hummingbird will be obtained, a taxon whose taxonomic status is still uncertain.
